I'm finding that difficult to follow, sorry.
Was the marriage in Latin? If so it would be easy to mix up the names John and James.
Or it's two Ann married to a Whelan by the look of it in different parts of the country.
Looks like a case of following 'hints' blindly.

Sorry if its written confusingly.
I have all my details checked by Ireland Catholic registers on Ancestry as well as paid for on Rootsireland - before they appeared on Ancestry.

2 people who look like they are very closely related as its the same line share 8cm over 1 segment on DNA Ancestry with me - but they dont appear on my mums DNA
have done there records search , but the only thing is the marriage is the same one as mine Ann and John not Ann and James

You have Ann Brennan married John Whelan 1823 Laois
Children
Mary 1825
John 1829
Catherine 1831
Judith 1834

They have
Ann born in Galway (so why is she getting married in Laois?)
Married in Laois 1823 to James or John
Children (none lived long enough to get baptised in the early years of her marriage it seems)
John 1831
Michael 1833
Ann 1835
James 1838

I wouldn't pay any more attention to what they have, it's clearly blindly following hints.

Yes you are clearly related but they just haven't got a tree you can follow, you could work out a tree for them assuming the records nearer to the present day are correct which they likely are it's probably only when they tried to search in Ireland that things went wrong.
