I've found a marriage for Sarah on FindMyPast

The image states:-

30th December 1903 Sarah Mary Williamson to Harry Helliwell.

Sarah's father is given as Charles Williamson (Dec'd) Labourer

One of the witnesses is George Mason who 'married' her mother.

Added:-

Marriages Dec 1903

HELLIWELL    Harry        York    9d   33
Williamson    Sarah Mary        York    9d   33

Image is on Find My Past if you wish to look yourself.

More than likely lies were told to the children.  Obviously Sarah's marriage to George will have been bigamous.  One has to assume that she claimed to be a widow.

Poor Charles, stuck in an asylum and not knowing what was going on.

And poor Sarah left to cope with 5 WILLIAMSON children under 9
Including baby Robert
Maybe that why she brought eldest daughter Harriet (,DOBSON) * aged 12 back from her parents house to help with little ones

Harriet is down as visitor in 1901 aged 22

Sarah.,s
daughter Annie died aged ,10 1895

About same time as George Mason s first wife died

Lily Mason is aged 2 in 1901 so maybe she is 7,th child of Sarah

By then CharlesWilliamson had been in asylum at least ten years his son Robert born 1890  .I wonder if there was an admittance.date

So does that mean Lily was Sarah's daughter or Harriet's but registered as a Mason?

Harriet, age 22, is on the 1901 census as Dobson.  Stated to be a visitor but related to Sarah perhaps?

Or have I missed something from earlier on?

Added:  Ah I see that Harriet is probably Sarah's daughter so Lily is Sarah's as well?
