Please can anyone decipher for me the letters in brackets following the ship HMAS Platypus. 25th March 1919.

Is it S/M ? 
HMAS Platypus was a Submarine Tender, or base, ship allocated to the Australian navy in 1919
Baron (of Blackburn), Chadwick (Oswaldtwistle), Watkins (Swansea), Jones (x3 Swansea), Colton (Shropshire), Knight (Shropshire/Montgomery) , Bullen (Norfolk), White (Dorset)

Thank you , the lettering looks like 8 or S / Mo, as you say this probably relates to being a Submarine Tender.
