Great Grandad's burial Philips Park Cemetery

From Manchester City Council burial records, I found out years ago that my g.grandfather was buried in F Consecrated 1420 grave on 11 January 1892 (later followed by his wife and one of his sons and daughter in law).  However, I've received an email today from Ancestry which states that from England and Scotland Select Cemetery Records 1800-2016, he is apparently buried in grave F612.  I'm assuming it's the same person, I doubt there would be two Seth Hobsons, both butchers, both buried in the same cemetery on the same day.  I'm inclined to go with the Manchester City Council burial records as the Ancestry one doesn't have an image of their record.

Just looked at the actual register and I can see what has happened, the person below my g.grandfather was buried in L612!!!  The register is so legible, it can't be because they can't read it.  I'll contact Ancestry but I doubt they'll change anything.

Have you tried posting the query on their friends of the cemetery facebook page.  I have just seen another post on there that throws some doubt on Manchester council transcripts

My g.grandfather was Seth Hobson, his name is part way down the list.

Is it Manchester council who have contributed to the England and Scotland Select Cemetery Records 1800-2016?  When you first click on the Manchester City Council site, where the names have been transcribed it shows the correct grave.

Just found a comment on Facebook about

the Asian country that Manchester council let transcribe our burial records.

I don't understand why there was any need to transcribe records that were already transcribed!

In this instance the Manchester Burial register is spot with the burial location of F1420 for Seth Hobson.

Ancestry have messed up not in transcribing the records but more like cut and paste from the council database, if that is the case Ancestry will have a major fault on there records.

The Asian connection is before the burial records were online. Manchester council sent the burial registers to I think was India "for cost probably" not being there first language a lot of transcribing errors took place but not in this case.

Thank you.  I've sent a note to Ancestry, but if it's anything like their other records, they won't change it, just put a note by it, unlike Findmypast, which if you prove an error will actually change their records.

There is an error with one of my ancestors on the Manchester website, he's transcribed as John J Cockitt, instead of John I Cockett.  However, the other Cocketts in the grave have all been transcribed correctly.

I've sent a request to join the "Friends of Philips Park Cemetery" Facebook group.  I have lots of ancestors buried in Philips Park Cemetery but whether they actually have gravestones I don't know.
