The ancient names of places here in England -
Geldeforda   Guilford in Surrey

From what I see of these 18th Century documents, the spelling is Guilford rather than Guildford

SURRY
Guilford is properly the county town. The Wey is navigable from there to the Thames ...."

Mind you, the spelling of the county concerned doesn't inspire confidence!!
