Help finding Sarah's baptism
« on: Wednesday 26 August 20 12:33 BST (UK) »
Does anybody have access to the parish registers of Wednesbury in Staffordshire please? I am looking for the baptism of Sarah Jenkins who was married to David Hill at Walsall on 11 July 1813. The 1851 and 1861 censuses both have Sarah's place of birth as Wednesbury and her year of birth as circa 1794/5.  ;D Thanks

I have just become aware that there were two women called Sarah Jenkins who were married at St Matthew in Walsall - my Sarah in 1813 and another Sarah who married William Skeldon in 1819. I've followed Sarah the wife of William Skeldon through the censuses and it seems she was born circa 1794 in Wednesbury too!  ???

The only plausible baptism I can find is Sarah Jenks daughter of William and Esther who was baptised 14 June 1795. But whether is this is my Sarah or the Sarah that married William Skeldon I can't decide  ???

Not that I'm aware of Gadget. Their children were James, Sarah, another James, David, Thomas, John, Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth, William and Ann. Very common names as you can see  ;D

I didn't find any in the non-conformist registers so, if it were me, I'd accept the Walsall baptism but note that I wasn't 100% sure it was correct.

Walsall is not far from Wednesbury,

Would her father have made a Will? it might be worth checking for one. I think it would  be Lichfield diocese.

I don't see any suitable wills!

William and Esther Jenks had the following children baptised in Walsall (I searched 1800 +/-10)
1791 - William
1792 - Ann
1795 - Sarah
1797 - James
1803 - Mary
