I was wondering if that might be the case here John.

On SP the only death which looked promising .... that of George Farrell who died in 1919 age 62 - is not “my” George.

Does anyone know how I can find out more about the Peter Farrell who died in 1976 (as there are no images for this d/c on SP).

ev

Added-
Valuation Roll . George Farrell , tenent , house 4 Argyll Street Port Glasgow , 1921.
VR007100041.

Just looking at this now ev .... very interesting.
On the passenger list why are the two boys crossed out?
Who is William?
Who is Mrs George Farrell? No relationship is given for her (whereas relationships are given for contacts of others on the list)
... maybe their father George remarried .... William possibly half brother to Samuel?

This looks like his birth-
Peter Grumely B Farrell , 1895 , Camlachie Lanark

As for the Samuel Farrell I found , I don't think he is your Samuel.
There is a different Farrell family in Port Glasgow in 1911 , with son Samuel and father George.

Not sure if you have looked at the Inverclyde Intimations site(goes up to 1918) ?
The only thing I could see-
Quote
Margaret McVey Farrell died at Greenock Infirmary 1st October 1910 after falling from her window at 2 Crawfurd Street.
Greenock Telegraph 3.10.1910.

Hi Ruskie  :)

The death of Peter that Ev found is certainly I think the correct one for him. Peter reported the death of his brother Samuel in 1968, also in Arrochar as his brother Lawrence.

Samuel doesn't look to have married and working as a labourer at the time of his death. He died from stomach cancer at the Vale of Leven Hospital in Alexandria.

ev

So that narrows down his death further ... to between 1915 and 1919 (presuming that the information provided by son Lawrence on his marriage certificate was correct)

I was not aware of the Inverclyde Intimations.

This is excellent information. Thank you ev.

Her cause of death was Fracture of the Skull, and I was curious to how that happened. Sounds dreadful - poor Maggie.

Monica - thanks for your valuable input.  :)

Saltcoats, North Ayrshire.
The website for Ardrossan, Saltcoats & Stevenston is .. https://www.threetowners.com/

If you post a request for information re: Farrell they will help you.

I know of R Farrell (male) born about 1947 from Saltcoats and M. Farrell ( married female - different family) Saltcoats and Ardrossan probably born 1950s.
They may still be alive so I can't divulge details but threetowners can help .. they regularly access the archives of the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald which covered Kilwinning to Largs and the Garnock Valley towns of Dalry, Kilbirnie and Beith.
Norfolk, Nelsons of Gt Ryburgh, Gooch, Howman, COLLISONS,  Ainger, Couzens, Batrick (Norfolk & Dorset), Tubby ( also of Yorkshire) Cathcarts of Ireland, Lancashire & Isle of Wight) Dickinsons of Morecambe and Lancaster, Wilson of Poulton-le-Sands and Broughton.  Wilson - Ffrance of Rawcliffe,  Mitchells of Isle of Wight. Hair of Ayrshire, Williamson of Tradeston, Glasgow. Nelsons in Australia with Haywards Heath connections.

Thank you Ian. That looks like it could be very useful.  :)

Ev and Monica - Following your recommendation I downloaded the b/c of Peter Farrell b 1895. Yes, he is the correct Peter!  :) There must be a story behind those interesting middle names of “Grumely” and “Ballantine” .  :)

There is now only father George’s death to be found.
