John Hayes - Otterbourne Hampshire

Both records seem to be on Ancestry. However-I'm getting different death/burial dates.
England, Select Deaths and Burials, 1538-1991
The Otterbourne chap was buried 9 Jul 1851.

The man aboard the Tartar:
 in the UK, Registers of Births, Marriages and Deaths at Sea, 1844-1890
didn't die until 24 Jul 1851.

That’s where the confusion has crept in...The John Hayes I am trying to find info on, his father was John Hayes mother Mary Baten..John was married twice to Charlotte Gorey and Matilda Berry

I'm not really seeing any confusion. (trying to be careful-but why would your guy be at sea in the first place? ).

Easy answer is the death cert. Maybe this one?

I do agree as I cannot find any reason for my one to be at sea.  I think it is John aged 51 Winchester Hursley.   I have traced family to Hursley and their trades are mostly gardeners.  Working at the Manor House.
