I wish to find out which district includes Granby Barracks please. I am looking for information on my great grandfather Thomas Weir born around 1821 in Ireland who was a Gunner in the Royal ARTILLERY around 1858. Where would it be a possibility for finding his Service record?? Any help most appreciated.

It says he served 21 years including 8 months in the Crimea and 6 yrs 2 months in Corfu  He had several medals,  5 good conduct badges and his conduct was exemplary

He was discharged on 18 Nov 1862 at Woolwich.   He was 5 ft 10.5 with a fresh complexion, hazel eyes and dark brown hair.  His trade was a labourer

Wow, thanks so much for this amazing info, there is  always another question please? would there be any info of his family at all included in any records. Also where would i go now to see if i can find out what medals etc? Or maybe even a photo??

There was a Granby Barracks in Devonport (Plymouth) Devon
