John William Passmore, Oakford

 I am trying to find out more info on John William Passmore born 1889 in Oakford, near Tiverton. In 1901 I think he is living with John Palfrey his grandad, in Oakford although he is listed as Palfrey and not Passmore, and in 1911 is living with his uncle Lewis Palfrey and listed as Palfrey. On the GRO website his mothers maiden name is Palfrey but I have no idea who is parents are. I don't want to go down the certificate route if I can help it as I am doing the tree to fit DNA matches into .

Married 1886, so I guess not the above.

No trace of John William in 1891?

John & Jane Palfrey had four daughters three are on the 1881 & 1891 census.

Mary Ann Palfrey born 1863 only appears with the family in 1871, in 1881 it looks like she appears as Ann in South Molton as a Domestic Servant age 18, her employer is George Mountjoy age 32, there is one visitor Elizabeth Avery age 62. George is married by 1891 and with a new servant
No trace of Mary Ann.

Jane Palfrey born 1871, so 18 in 1889, she Married Mr Skinner 1895

Eda born 1877 but noted as Elizabeth in 1881, 12 in 1889 Eda Married John Barnes Smith 1896

Jessie born 1879 was still with the family in 1901 but only 10 in 1889.

Thank you. It is a complete mystery. Passmore doesn't seem to appear in the village apart from him when he was born. The link to Palfrey is definitely the mum but who or where she is is lost on me. Thanks for taking the time to look.

On his marriage in 1913 he states that his father was also a John William PASSMORE, wheelwright. There was a John PASSMORE, Wheelwright living in Stoke Canon in 1891 born Highampton aged 35. In 1881 he was in Brampford Speke. He may be the John PASSMORE baptised 30 Apr 1854 in Highampton, son of William & Ann.
