Gretna Green
« on: Wednesday 16 September 20 12:38 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find my Grandfather’s wedding certificate to his second wife
I have narrowed the date from 1969 -1978. His name was James Murray and he lived in Langholm Dumfrieshire, I only know his wife’s first name as Myrtle
He was born in 1901 and died in 1978
I have found a James Murray and a Myrtle Thompson married at Gretna in 1972, then another James Murray and a Myrtle Smith married at Gretna in 1972
Is there anyway to check these out online
Many thanks
MG

Hi MG ,

According to Scotlandspeople those marriages have the same reference number.
Myrtle is listed under Smith and Thompson.

Index on scotlandspeople would list Myrtle under the two different surnames but the same reference number if she had been married previously.

Possibly widowed or divorced.

Dorrie
Small, County Antrim & Dundee
Dickson, County Down & Dundee
Madden, County Westmeath
Patrick, Fife
Easson, Fife
Leslie, Fife
Paterson, Fife

If James Murray died in Cumbria England(born 19th May 1901) in 1978 , then there is a possible death for a Myrtle Murray in Cumbria in 1980(born 21st May 1909).
You would really need to order the 1972 marriage from SP to progress.

I have an illegitimate gt uncle in Scotland, listed at marriage with 2 separate records, one with his mother`s name and one with his stepfather`s. I was able to view both images for  6 credits.
