Just a thought on the tiles FWIW. Late Victorian ...roofs in this period were often patterned either with different coloured machine made tiles ; sometimes referred to as geometirc or mathematical tiles. Sometimes capped with terracotta decorative ridge tiles.
Nurse, Musther, Smith, Julnes, Rogers, Parsons,Grieves(Greaves,Greeves),Wood,Cray,Scrine,Shellard,Greenstock,

There's nothing wrong with being mediocre...as long as you're good at it!

The style and shape of the house looks similar to Lady Wimborne cottages in and around Wimborne, Dorset probably late Victorian,  however the chimneys look more like Elizabethan.

Carol

Looking closer one doesn't look like a chevron. One spiral goes one way around and the other spiral the other way around to cross over, giving a diamond.

I know this is an old post and not sure if Carol ever discovered the location?
It appears to be Nettleden House, Nettleden Road, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
Built in 1856, the good news is it's still standing!
