Hi,

The OMI only goes up to 1837 so i am unable to find a marriage for  John and Amelia.

I did find this one record, which may or may not be of any use....

Richard Johnsey of Idbury & Sarah Tibs married at Shorthampton on the 21st March 1788.

is it possible they were John's grandparents?

I couldn't find any marriage between an Esther (surname unknown) and any male with a surname beginning with a 'J' that was either in Idbury or a surname that approximately matched.

If you want me to do any other searches let me know.

Regards

Paula

Hi,

Thanks for trying for me Paula.  I'll keep Richard and Sarah on record just in case of a connection.
What's the OMI?

Regards, Emmi

Its the Oxfordshire Marriage Index. It's available from the Oxfordshire FHS. Its meant to contain all the marriages in all the parishes in Oxfordshire up until 1837.

Hi Paula,

Does the OMI give any details of the marriage?  Like the Son or Daughter of.

I have William Clack married Ann Turner, 26th Dec 1826, but I've been as yet unable to get any further back.

Emmi

No it doesn't sorry, that was only really given after 1837 with the new marriage certificates. it also doesn't give any names of witnesses.

There are a lot of male Clack's in the index. Are there any parishes in particular you'd like me to search? Your William and Ann married in Bampton. There seem to be a number of Clack's marrying in Bampton, or noted as being from Bampton.

Hi Paula,

Sorry, I forgot to say they married in Bampton.  They had two sons baptized in Bampton, that's all I have found anyway!  James -13/05/1827  and  George 31/10/1830.
But that's it! all I've got -- Don't know where to go from here!!

Thanks,
Emmi

Did you want me to give you a list of all the Clack marriages in Bampton for potential parents? Have you already searched the baptisms to check that William wasn't baptised there?

Yes please Paula, if you can send me the list, that would be great.

I've found  a William Clack Bapt 31st Dec 1809, it says
F. Henry Clack.
M. Martha Pettifer
So I assume they weren't Married.  Henry's a little young, but it is possible of course!

Many Thanks,
Emmi
