Ok here are all the male marriages which mention Bampton....

Edward Clack & Jane Young married in Bampton, 20 Sep 1836
Henry Clack & Martha Bennett married in Bampton, 4 Dec 1774
Henry Clack & Martha Pettifer married in Bampton, 14 Oct 1801
James Clack & Mary Barker married in Bampton, 25 March 1823
James Clack & Jane Badbone married in Bampton, 22 Oct 1833
John Clack & Ann Fox married in Bampton, 2 Feb 1745
Thomas Clack of Black Bourton & Jane Webb married in Bampton, 16 Apr 1775
William Clack of Clanfield & Mary Griffin married in Bampton, 15 Nov 1778
William Clack of Clanfield & Lucy Hewlet married in Bampton, 25 Dec 1807
William Clack & Ann Turner married in Bampton, 26 Dec 1826

That's all of them! Clanfield seems to crop up a lot amongst all of the records so it might be worth bearing that in mind.

Regards

Paula

Hi Emmi,
Just want to point out that parents with two different surnames in a baptism registry, does not always indicate that they were not married. Some of the dissenting churches
such as Methodist were very "modern" and always gave the mother's maiden name as well as the father's name.
In the case of an illegitimate child, the mother is usually listed first, sometimes, but not always, followed by the father's name and sometimes a note about the child being illegitimate.

Cheers,
Carmela

Oh WOW Sleat,

That info is just brilliant, I have all those names but three on the 1851 census, so I know they are all mine, and the three not on the census, well talk about bonus - they are Hester's Parents, Richard and Sarah, plus John Smith father of George, so you've took me back a generation!

Could you tell me if Richard and Sarah married in Idbury?

Thank-you
Emmi

Hi Carmela,

Thanks for putting me on the right track, I'd not come across a registry like that before.
