Aston/Hicks Family

Hi everyone,

I am carrying out some research for a friend.  I have really got stuck at an early stage. If I am on the wrong forum please let me know.

I will start from what I know

I think her parents were John T Aston ...no further details...Phyllis R (Rose?) Aston Nee Hicks possible DOB Dec 1919 Plymouth Devon.   Married Jul 1946 Plymouth Devon.

This is all I have and I don’t have any documentation to back up my evidence.  Any help appreciated

Unfortunately you will need to remove the name of your friend as we are not allowed to show living people on Rootschat.

If you are sure of the parents' names, presumably from your friend's birth certificate - you could just obtain the parents' marriage certificate. That will show you their location and the father's occupation (I would have thought his occupation would be on his child's birth cert actually).

There is a Phyllis R Hicks, b 1919, on the 1939 Register in Devon BUT, strangely - there doesn't seem to be a change to her surname to reflect her married name (which there usually is.) Hence there may be 2 of them!

Very interesting if Phyllis is the mother of my friends mum she most certainly was quite old ...for the time but hey that’s life ..
