2 children from Samuel's marriage, born 1928 & 1934. EDIT, 1 may still be alive
the other, Janet R died in infancy, 1934.

I suspect Samuel & Gertrude divorced.

There is a marriage of Samuel to a Lillian B Hicks or Humphreys in Colchester, 1952.

It would explain why James & Gertrude did not marry until 1952 also, 4 years after their child was born. She was still married to Samuel.

Gertrude was living in Clacton on Sea in 1939

Following the Padbury line.

Andrew William Padbury, born 1869, Greenwich,  married Gertrude Annie Cole, 1905, West Ham.

His 1st wife, whom he married in 1894, Honor Rose (Brown) died in 1904, Hackney.

5 children from his 1st marriage & at least 2 from the 2nd including Gertrude

Andrew died Southend on Sea, 1952

Andrew's parents were  Arthur Andrew Padbury,(Master Slipper Maker) born 1844, Epsom, and Elizabeth Sarah Maslin, born 1850, Greenwich. They were married, 1869, Greenwich. Arthur died 1875.

Arthur's parents were Andrew (Master Watchmaker) born circa 1821 & Sarah Jeal. They were married in Lambeth, 1843. Andrew died 1860, Epsom.

Charles was the son of John Coles & Mary Ann Thomas
