rather unusual ask! colchester
« on: Friday 06 August 04 23:42 BST (UK) »
Hi there!

This is a bit of an unusual ask; I'm looking, all be it lightly, for any information regarding a terrace of houses in Colchester.  The terraced houses where built under the name 'creffield villa's' on creffield road in the early 1880's! I've been to the records office and looked at the original plans that where submitted. What id love to find is old photographs!!! If anybody knows of anyway of finding some (if at all there are any in exsistance) i'd love to know!
Thanks all!
regards
Penninah  :)

Do you have any more information at all as to where in Colchester these houses are?

I work in Colchester so I might be able to find out.  I could even take a photograph for you, once we can settle where they are, but a road name would be useful.

If not, have you tried asking Colchester Local Studies Library by e-mail if they can find out where the houses are/were?  If they can, then I can still go and take a picture, if it's walkable from my office, other than that I would need to sweet talk Him Indoors into taking me along one day!  This might entail baking . . . .  ;D ;D ;D

Do you think Creffield Villas, could be along Creffield Rd., which is just off Maldon Rd., I don't live in Colchester anymore but used to go to the doctors in Creffield Rd., when I did, there are some lovely large old Victorian Houses there.

Just round the back of Essex County Hospital.

Can't see Villa's on my modern map.

Cheers Diane :)
