I have today received the Birth Certificate for David Goulborn but unfortunately no fathers name is given.
He was born on the 9th June 1851 and the place given is Clive, which I believe is part of winsford.

If anyone has access to the 1851 census I would like to know where his mother Sarah Goulborn was in 1851, she was  about 16 at that time.

Thank you very much Peter for that information

I got the following from Family Search

Sarah Goulburn

Christening 28Apr 1834 Over, Cheshire, England

Father    David Goulburn

Mother   Francis

This seems to tie up with the information in your last message regarding Francis , although once again a different spelling of the name.

interestingly, David Goban My G Grandfather also called his eldest daughter  Francis

Hi

Definitely the naming patterns seem to confirm the Goulbourn/Goben theory.

Normaly the female Frances is spelt with an "e" and the male with an "i" .

The name Goulbourn is spelt six different ways in the 1851 census, life is never boring in this job.

good luck

Wharmby needs to post another couple of messages before he can use the pm system.

Good luck with your mutual research.
