Thanks people.

I have an extensive email from Dudley Archives. I apologise but I am not technically minded. Can you tell me how i can include this as an attachment in my next post?

Regards

Eric

I have Aston's in my tree - from Staffordshire although not the same as yours I don't think, but just to say that this has been recorded as ASTAIN on occasions so another variation to look for.

Bishop - Sussex & Kent

Hi Everyone

Thanks people for all your work.

Ciderdrinker - I applied to Staffordshire Records Office and now have a copy of the 1742 BT's for Kingswinford which shows a Samuel Aston baptised in 1742, Father William, Mother Margaret. I wonder why this wasn't on the Parish records themselves?

Jomot - i think this must be the baptism, (14/11/710), of William, Father Williams Mother Elizabeth. I have researched and looked at William Aston's in the area. The nearest match i can find is William, Father Thomas, baptised in 1710 at St Peters Wolverhampton (Thomas is the name of 'my Williams' eldest son).

I guess though you cannot be 100% on this but given the age of the records you have to come up with a 'beyond reasonable doubt' attitude. If anyone has any other ideas i am always grateful to hear them.

Thanks

Eric
