Cant find a marriage - McKay & McAlinden
« on: Saturday 24 October 20 11:10 BST (UK) »
Ive managed to find on ancestry that my great grandfather Patrick McKay and his siblings were bapitised in Belfast, either St Malachy's or St Peter's. The earliest of them (that I could find) was Peter who was baptised in St Malachys in 1857. Their parents were Peter McKay & Mary McAlinden. I cannot find their marriage anywhere. My great grandfather was married in St Peters in 1891. His home address was 88 Servia Street, Belfast, so they'd been in Belfast all that time. Any help would be appreciated.

Civil registration of Catholic marriages started in 1864 so you'll likely have to search for a church record of the marriage.

Thank you very much for that aghadowey. Especially the street directory of 1894. Id never seen that before. Im fairly certain Peter and Mary are both dead before 1901. Their names are mentioned in my great grandfathers wedding but it doesnt say whether or nor they were alive in 1891. That Patrick in 1894 could be my great grandfathers brother.

Irish civil records-

Might be worth looking a Milltown (Belfast) Cemetery in case they were buried there and have a headstone-

Patrick's birth was registered as McCoy.

A bit of fiddling with the dates there to avoid a late registration fine, he was baptised on 26 March.
