Tearing my hair out
« on: Monday 26 October 20 18:26 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the mother of Gillian Stewart born 1938 Exeter, I found her birth. Her mother's name was Stewart.
She was adopted & her adopted name was Ransom.
She married twice, firstly to Raymond Stephens in Exeter in 1957 as Gillian Wheaton & then Anthony Ransom in 1987 in Exeter as Gillian Stephens.
I have been told the mother married.
This is proving to be very difficult & I am hoping that someone will be able to unpick this tangle for me. Regards Trish

I can't see her as an open record on the 1939 Register, so I suspect the only way may be to purchase a copy of the birth certificate.

Did the lady die this year? I notice from a published tree, that her death is recorded 2020, otherwise living people should not be discussed on Rootschat.

I know nothing of adoption, but can see there is a birth registration for Gillian Stewart. That would give you her mother’s full name, I would think.

Yes I've been trying to start the family tree but can't seem to get off the ground. They are all deceased.  Regards trish

We have to be careful about mentioning people who might still be alive on here

Does the surname Edwards come within this family, just a thought

Hi

The FreeBMD.org transcription of the "1957" marriage was transcribed by someone listed as (just) "GILLIAN".

It has this comment against it . . . . .
"This record was transcribed by: This person wishes to remain anonymous."

The reverse side of the marriage entry  does not have the comment.

Regards
