Joseph Bunting circa maybe 1745-1755
« on: Friday 30 October 20 07:53 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to locate a baptism or date of birth for him.
It is thought that he may have been from the Rugby area in Warwickshire.
He married a widow Elizabeth Welch 18 Oct 1771 in Rugby Warwickshire.
So far I have located 7 children all baptised between 1772 and 1786 at St Andrews Rugby.Warwickshire

I am also trying to Establish the name of his first wife.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Have you tried the Warwickshire poor law records?
They may have had to ask for assistance.

Baptism of son Joseph 1786 a pauper is written next to their names

Then on 25 January 1774 there is a burial of a Samuel Welch son of Elizabeth a pauper.
I thought perhaps he was a son from her first marriage.

To others looking Joseph was also a widow when he married Elizabeth Welch

There is a marriage of Joseph Bunting to Sarah Williams on 21 March 1750 in Rugby.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QLQB-LD8P

That puts his birth at 1729, so that may or may not be the man you are after.
I can see 4 children from that marriage, the last one born in 1760.

Do you know when joseph died and at what age?
Where do you get 1745-55 from?
Milligan - Jardine – Glencross – Dinwoodie - Brown: (Dumfriesshire & Kirkcudbrightshire)
Clark – Faulds – Cuthbertson – Bryson – Wilson: (Ayrshire & Renfrewshire)
Neale – Cater – Kinder - Harrison: (Warwickshire & Queensland)
Roberts - Spry: (Cornwall, Middlesex & Queensland)
Munster: (Schleswig-Holstein & Queensland) and Plate: (Braunschweig, Neubruck & Queensland & New York)

Hello amondg
As yet not tried Warwickshire poor law records. That will be my next port of call.
On my to do list I have an Elizabeth Morris marrying Thomas Welch Jan 1768 Hampton Lucy, Warwickshire.
I will research further on the burial of Samuel Welch 25 January 1774.
Hello Neale1961
I do not know what date he died and his Dob is just a stake in the ground  and somewhere to start,
Have noted marriage of Joseph Bunting to Sarah Williams on 21 March 1750 in Rugby and will research further.
I have four children from 1751 to 1760 but no links so far with this Joseph

Thank amondg and Neale1961 for you replies.

Hello amondg and Hello Neale1961
Having now reviewed the Thomas Welch marriage, it has been incorrectly transcribed on Ancestry!
Thomas Welch was the curate of Charlecote Warwickshire.
Elizabeth Morris married Thos. (Thomas) Hortin. 20 Jan 1768 Hampton Lucy, Warwickshire.
Charlecote is about 1/2 mile from Hampton Lucy
This throws a different light on my search.

Daughter Elizabeth buried 3 May 1785 of Joseph and Elizabeth Bunting.

Possible there seem to be other families named Bunting-- Joseph (1786) was apprenticed to Thomas Green a Cordwainer of Rugby26 December 1799 until age 21.He would have been 13 so the right age for an apprenticeship.
Ref: Genealogist

son Joseph Bunting buried 3 January 1834 age 47 St Andrew Rugby.

daughter Ann possible marriage to Joseph Jarvis 25 October 1792 witness Thomas Bunting (her brother) at St Andrew Rugby.

ADDED
Daughter Hannah possible marriage to John Smith 9 November 1794 at St Andrew.
