Scent short for milliescent?
« on: Tuesday 03 November 20 17:52 GMT (UK) »
Hi guys
We've found a photo and on the back it says "great aunt scent", now unless scent was a surname, the only name I can think of that scent may be short for is milliescent?? Any other ideas please as having no joy finding a milliescent x

Or it could just be a pet name - maybe she was known for always wearing scent, so to distinguish her from other great aunts she may have been called Great Aunt Scent and the name just stuck.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex

I've never heard of that before...it must be a pet name as they are usually known as Milly, unless there was another Aunt with the same name.

Some religious linked name, like Assumpta, rather mangled by childish mouths?
Threlfall (Southport), Isherwood (lancs & Canada), Newbould + Topliss(Derby), Keating & Cummins (Ireland + lancs), Fisher, Strong& Casson (all Cumberland) & Downie & Bowie, Linlithgow area Scotland . Also interested in Leigh& Burrows,(Lancashire) Griffiths (Shropshire & lancs), Leaver (Lancs/Yorks) & Anderson(Cumberland and very elusive)

As you have put, her surname.  Useful if there were 2 great aunts in the extended family with the same first name.
