Perry Slaughter, accidentally drowned 1786
« on: Wednesday 04 November 20 11:56 GMT (UK) »
Perry Slaughter’s burial record, in 1786 at Temple, Bristol, has a note “accidentally drowned.”

Could rootschatters suggest where I might look for any further information that might expand on this? My efforts in the Bristol Archives online search haven’t proved successful. Would there have been any newspapers in Bristol at that time that might have reported on this?

I have not been able to find any other information about Perry’s birth or origins, save that he and a lady called Sarah had a daughter, Catharine, baptised in Temple, Bristol, in 1784.

Ancestry variously transcribes the name as either Slaughter or Haughter.

Thanks
Lisa

As Perry SLAUGHTER, accidentally drowned - there most probably would have been an Inquest - and records should exist at the Bristol Records office.

If I'm reading then records on Ancestry correctly in the 1790-1799 transcripts

dau of Perry & Sarah Slaughter - born August 31 ....  1784 - so aged 10 when christened.

Thanks, I’ve sent a message to Bristol Archives.
