Agree with the date & would suggest 1903-08.
I have seen this style of sleeve before & later in the decade
it was often worn without the lower sleeve which was detachable.

Is there an Irish connection with your Glasgow families - there is an Old Cross Street in Newtownards  in County Down ( but I don't know if there was a photography studio there circa 1901/08)

Yes, there is an Irish connection on one side of the family, however, they hadn't lived in Ireland for several generations.  I will look into it though because of Old Cross Street, which I am struggling with.

Are you sure there is an OLD before CROSS?

I see some markings but they are at a lower level and, even allowing for the slant, don't look on the same level as CROSS.

 I agree with gadget. I think it's just decoration. There is a cross Street in Glasgow
