Standing g outside at 11am on 11th November
« on: Sunday 08 November 20 12:25 GMT (UK) »
Did anyone observe the 2 minutes silence on their doorstep this morning?

I got up from watching a zoom church service, went to the door and there were only 3 houses opened,  5 people in total, expected more to be honest

Yes, I did.

No I didn't because I watched the BBC 1 coverage from the Cenotaph in London so observed the 2 minute silence with them.
It was very moving to watch as always but even more so in the current situation and how it was handled.

I stood on my doorstep today, Louisa Maud.  I saw one other neighbour out in his short dressing gown.

I likely won't be able to observe the silence on the 11th itself as I will be at work but I really wanted to join in with it today.

When you think not so long ago we stood in droves at our doorsteps clapping , I would have thought this year perhaps the suggestion to stand at our door was a good idea

There is also another thread on this, perhaps someone could amalgamate them

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!  So we should be repeating the exercise on WEDNESDAY, 11 NOVEMBER at 11.00 o'clock.  The time that the Armistice came into force, having been signed at 05.45.

 ;)

Thanks for the reminder - I will certainly be up at that time as I have an early shift on the 11th - so I can certainly do a 0545 remembrance.  ;)

I didnt do anything today
Flatmate was watching sport so I havent seen any news events either
I will think about  soldiers and the people at home on 11th

When I lived in France everyone had  the day off work..

.they thought a minutes silence was very paltry
