EDWARDS - ROBINSON marriage British Columbia
« on: Sunday 08 November 20 20:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

I know this post is skirting potentially living people territory so I understand if it isn't allowed.

Finley Stewart Robinson (b Ontario 1907, d BC 1973) married Jessie Brooks (b Ontario 1909, d BC 1968) in BC in 1927. Jessie's obituary shows there were 2 daughters:

Pauline, who married Norman Charles Edwards (b 1927, d 1997 - related post here: https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=800406.msg7016909#msg7016909). I understand Pauline is also deceased but have not found a record to confirm the date.

"V" - Jessie's obituary shows her full given name but I am uncertain if she is living or not. The obituary shows that her married name is also Edwards. Pauline's husband Norman does not appear to have had a brother.

I am looking to find the name of V's father-in-law. Ultimately I am trying to eliminate the possibility that her husband was Norman's 1st cousin.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

I would say if they are not at http://search-collections.royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/Genealogy

You could try probates here: https://justice.gov.bc.ca/cso/index.do which gives you current records.  You will have to register for an account but yu do not have to pay anything unless you find a record you want.

Then of course if they are not there they are living or they are in another Province.

Good luck

Don

Thanks, Don.  The probate link is helpful.

I did find a probate record for a Pauline Edwards from 1994 but it's not clear if it's the right person. I can't find a corresponding death record or notice.

For $6 I found the names of the executors and that there is another document I can get mailed to me for $10. I'm not sure exactly what the other document is so didn't proceed. I couldn't see a similar record for Norman or for sister V.

For $10 - likely the Will.

It's listed as "Praecipe" so it didn't seem to be the will unfortunately.

I am bumping this up as I have indirectly been given more information via the family.

I have been told that Pauline Robinson predeceased Norman Charles Edwards who died in 1997 so the Pauline Edwards who dies in 2008 is likely to be someone else.

I have also been told that Norman remarried after Pauline's death so the reference to him being divorced on his death record is possibly in relation to his second wife.

I have also been told that Robert Edwards who was a son of Pauline and Norman died "in the last few months." If possible I would like to find a death notice or obituary for Robert. I did find this death from 2022 but relatives are not named so not certain if he is the right man:

https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/kamloops-bc/robert-edwards-10658500

I did find that Pauline's sister V* remarried as V* Edwards in 1970 to Edward Thomas Cannefax who died in 2012. Edward was married to someone else at the time of his death. I have not found a death for V* and still have not confirmed the name of her first husband.

Any assistance gratefully received.

He married in Arizona in 1960 and divorced in Texas in 1968 but that wife isn't the one mentioned in obituary nor is she V_ or Edwards. (search FamilySearch for 'Edward Thomas Cannefax'). Have you tried searching there for V_ [whatever first name is] Cannefax?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Yes, he was married and divorced before he married V* in 1970.

Yes, I have tried searching for V* Cannefax, but thank you for the suggestion.

Have you contacted the daughter "K.D" the informant on the death of Norman Charles Edwards ?
Google her name and she comes up living in Rock Creek..............
