Town/parish in Lincolnshire
« on: Wednesday 11 November 20 08:03 GMT (UK) »
I have managed to transcribe most of the 1765 Will of Charles Chester. However, I am stumped with the name of a parish/town in Lincolnshire.

What I have is...
Also I give and bequeath unto my sister Sarah Robinson the wife of James Robinson of ______ in the county of Lincoln, farmer.

Can anyone fill in the gap?

Stainby? According to Wiki, 8 miles south of Grantham
King, Richardson, Hathaway, Sweeney, Young - Chelsea, London
Richardson - Rayne Essex
Steward, Hindry, Hewitt - Norfolk, North Walsham area

The first letter is very similar to the s in 'sum' so roopat could be right with Stainby

Thankyou very much. Sarah Robinson was buried at Castle Bytham, in 1771, which is quite close to Stainby, so Stainby must be the town. Thanks again.

At first I thought Strubby but looking again I'd favour Stainby.
