Thanks, I thought his name to be the most distinct of the three but I knew 'Canton' wasn't quite right.

might be distinct, but there were a few around. Eaton isn't uncommon in the area.

The third witness, David Phillips, may have been the parish clerk as he seems to have witnessed many of the marriages.

Parish of Loughor at that time was much bigger than present day Loughor.

Going off the 1823 birth for Mary Evans. This could be her in 1841. Living as a female servant to another family. Living on Pleasant Row - which is four minutes from Powell Street where Joseph Slee is in 1841.

Going off the 1823 birth for Mary Evans.

But that 1823 birth does not tie in with her age on the 1851 census where it is stated that she is age 34 (born c1817).    :-\

I know but it could always be wrong? Take Joseph Slee for example. I know he's 1820. But on the 1841 census he's noted down as 1816.

When I put in Mary Evans, 1818 give or take 5 years. Glamorganshire, Wales. Parents - William & Ann. The 1823 Mary is the only result that comes up.

I have to say though, I think this one is a dead end. Just too many missing pieces to her life and even her daughter's life, to really be sure on anything. I'm currently on the older side of my tree so I expected it to die down around this time period.

Thanks to everyone for taking a look at this though. Really appreciate it. Not too sure how records work but maybe coming back to this branch in a couple years there might be something more to find.

The census only tells us she was born in Wales, looking for a baptism with parents Wm & Ann c1818 =/- 2 years brings up around 12 possibles in Wales on FindMyPast.  We can't assume she was born in Glamorganshire as that is where we think she met Joseph.   She is certainly elusive

I wonder what happened to her between 1851/61  :-\
