Thomas Waterhouse 1841 Census
« on: Monday 16 November 20 04:11 GMT (UK) »
Could some one with better eyes than me work out what is Thomas Waterhouse’s occupation could be. I see it as Pay Gatherer, but am not at all sure, and also I have not come across such an occupation before.

Also, is it possible to work out the address. It appears to me as Ainsworth S….
G Park. This would be a location in the Blackburn, Lancashire area, possibly Gemshaw park, but not certain.

The census is HO107/Piece502/Book17/Folio33/Page12

Ainsworth Street
Grimshaw park (it’s on other entries)

It does look like Pay Gatherer, but I suspect it is some other sort of gatherer.  Rag?

Mckha: thank you for that information. Rag is much more likely than Pay, but I could only see it as a P.

Now that you have pointed it out, I can see Ainsworth.

Again, many thanks.
