Would be appreciative of any help finding Amos Pankhurst after 1871. Here is what I know:
Amos was born in Ashburnham, Sussex, registered Jun 1843. He is listed with his parents and assorted siblings in Burwash, 1851. His parents were William Pankhurst and Caroline Kemp, both born Burwash. Most of the children were born in Burwash, except Amos, and I believe one other, Eli, who died young. I have not found a christening for Amos, but have for the children b. Burwash.
In Jun 1869, in Ticehurst district, Sussex he married Sarah Clark(e), widow, the daughter of Samuel Kemp. (I have not dug far enough to find out if Samuel and Caroline above are related, lots of Kemps in the area.)
Sarah was the widow of William Clark(e) and had several children with him.
In 1871 Amos and Sarah are in Horsmonden, Kent with two of her children listed as his, but they are actually William's.
Sarah is flexible with her age, seems she was likely 18 years Amos's senior.
On the 1881, she is housekeeper, widowed, to Alfred Smith in Horsmonden. She is 52, although going by the 1851 census and her marriage date, a birthdate of ca 1826 is likely.
I have not been able to locate a death registration for Amos. I did not find any mention of him in the British Newspaper Archive, either.
