Wow Lizzie,
Thank you for all this very useful further research.
I will now go back to finding the correct death for James POPE and the new research in Dorset.

Does the marriage of James & Hannah give any indication as to whether they were single.  Were there any witnesses

Rosie, I will now try to find the marriage record.
Thanks

FindMyPast has transcript only, but it does say widowed for bride's notes. There is family of Priddy's in Greenwich, children of Edward and Ann: John bapt 1800, Charles bapt 1802, William Edward bapt 1807 - could any of these be first husband?

William Priddy married Hannah Mabey at Rotherhithe 9 Feb 1827

added
Just noticed that had come up before, but it fits now with the child with Mabey as mmn and not Priddy

Is this a clue or complete red herring ??? ???
Census of 1861 RG 9/390/75/p 23
Living in Rotherhithe
Is this something to do with Hannah’s family a Mary Mabey B.1785 Lother Dorset I suspect this should read Loders which is a couple of miles from Bridport. She is with her son Henry ( born Rotherhithe) and his family

Henry Mabey married Eliza Templen Salibury in 1849. His father was also Henry, occ ship rigger.

Henry Mabey married Mary Trevet at Burton Bradstock on 13 feb 1806

Henry Mabey married Mary Trevet at Burton Bradstock on 13 feb 1806

I can't find this on BB marriage records on Dorset OPC, so think it may actually be Banns. I have found Familysearch often call a banns record a marriage. So if this date was banns third reading in Henry's parish, I would expect marriage a few days later in Mary's parish
