Old ballylinney grave yard
« on: Thursday 19 November 20 15:38 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

I am look to see if there is a burial register for Old Ballylinney Graveyard.
I have quite a few family members buried there.. but not able to prove this.

Also I understand ballylinney Presbyterian  Church has burials as well so its very confusing.. how would I tell which one they are in ?

Many thanks

Evening,
I should have said, yes I have not many listed,

I have been told  currently over 300 plots.

Many thanks 😊

Neither graveyard is likely to have a burial register.  Assuming you are looking for burials in the 1800s or earlier, unless there is a legible gravestone, there’s probably no simple way of knowing who is buried there.

Agree with Elwyn that there are unlikely to be records (Presbyterian churches didn't tend to keep burial records) but perhaps check newspaper death notices and In Memorium notes to see if burial place mentioned.

I think the plot numbers go up to at least 308 (Robert Hackney). Of course not all the graves are well kept and not all memorials are legible, but on the whole it is in good shape and well worth a visit - ask politely and tread carefully!

I will try to attach a photo for one of the best known residents, Dr Dundee, whose name is on lots of the medical certificates for the area.
