I wonder if we have the same man?
About 10 years ago I inspected the record for this Photographer at the Surrey History Centre and then saw his age!
My Robert BENNETT [probable alias] claims to be born in abt.1820 in Perth and a retired RA Colonel on Half-Pay [not proven] living in Hanwell in 1881 and Southwark in 1871.
He 'disappeared' from the family in Mid 1880s but there is "cheating at cards" in the family myths!

Over the years I have followed numerous Robert BENNETTs and see my frustration in my notes below!

I have spent today with bundles of smelly, sooty, dirty old documents at the Surrey History Centre.

Sadly, this is not our man.

This Robert BENNETT was a photographer aged 35, who issued a rubber cheque for £3 in payment for a clock..

So, head down again!
