Johanna Coles/Head born 1772 Ludgershall lived
« on: Friday 27 November 20 16:38 GMT (UK) »
This lady is a distant relative.  Poking around in the further reaches of my family tree I have now become intrigued by the fact that she appears to have had possibly 5 illegitimate children with John Head.

They are
Richard Head bp 1792
Ann bp 1798  Head
John Head bp 1800 and John Head bp 1802
Mary Head bp 1804
all at Marsh Gibbon mother Johanna Coles

Various other researchers then have her marrying John Head in 1809 in Grendon Underwood (a marriage I have been unable to find).  John and Johanna Head  baptise Elizabeth 1808, Thomas 1809, Sarah 1811 all in Grendon Underwood.

I am now wondering whether Johanna Coles and Johanna Head are actually one and the same.

All the baptisms come from the England Select baptisms which I think are IGI ones.

Does anyone have access to records for Marsh Gibbon, Grendon Underwood or Ludgershall and can offer any further information?

Would love to find out more and any information would be gratefully received.  I am actually descended from the Coles of Ludgershall and have information which I am willing to share.

Thank you

Thanks Steve,

Basically the answer is 'anything'!  The burials are, however, particularly useful.  Nothing like 'killing off' a few of the ancestors and there is very little online.

I have decided that this winter is a good time to have a real dig at this bit of the family tree.  It has not received a lot of attention as 'way back when' i.e. 20+ years ago when I first got back to the Ludgershall lot I was,

a) not 100% convinced I had got it right
and
b) told that there were so many Coles/Coales/Culls around that I would never sort it all out.

Since then I have DNA evidence of my link to the Coles of Ludgershall and a little more confidence in my ability to sort them out - although I may well be proved wrong on the latter point.

I am pretty sure that Ann 1750 - 1836 is my 4 x great aunt, but I am trying to work out where husband Benjamin fits in, I suspect this is a wedding of first cousins but am not sure.  I am also trying to sort out a few more DNA links.
