Possible marriages (may be jumping ahead here if you have Johns first marriage - could be completely wrong!)

1. John Hall = Elizabeth Wakeling 25/12/1889  Barrow
John FWK father John FWK. John age 27 (1862)  Elizabeth age 20 (1869)

2. John Hall = Elizabeth Ratcliffe  mar 1890 Barrow  not on Registers

The free index to 1911 has John Hall the framework knitter and his daughter Hannah in Barrow  upon Soar.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X754-VF9

Likely to be the chap who died in 1929.
Whilst the one being sought is with his daughter in Leicester in 1911.

The 1935 Barrow RD death could be the 48 year old John Hall, gas stoker, in Quorndon with a wife Elizabeth in 1911
Free index
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X754-BV6

Elizabeth Hall died 27 Nov 1945. Probate for her, widow of Winkhill Road, Leicester Road, Quorn.
https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/Calendar?surname=hall&yearOfDeath=1946&page=7#calendar

I think a look up in the 39 Register for Elizabeth might help bolster that idea (but we can't do that on here)

Tried that one and ruled him out. Please see this thread https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=840027.msg7061043#msg7061043

The thread says there is a probate record for a John Hall or Walter Smith.
Whereas the actual probate calendar says Walter Hall or John Smith
https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/Calendar?surname=hall&yearOfDeath=1935&page=14#calendar

Death of a Walter Hall age 51 in June 1935, Leicester.
Different from the John Hall age 73 death!

Re that Leicester death

There's a burial for John Hall in Gilroes:

buried 10 April 1935 age 73, of 63, Buckminster Road.

also in the same plot are Mary Eliza Hall, d 1935 age 66, of 9 Richard St, and John William Hall age 61, of Buckminster Rd; plus George Weston (1910, age 52) and Ernest Frederick Wright(1923, age 46).

Who is John William Hall age 61? Not sure at the moment
I think Mary Eliza (Hall) could have been the wife of George Weston who died in 1910
Here they are in 1901, George Weston is 42, Mary E. is 32
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XSH9-ZM6

Free index to 1911 has Mary Eliza Weston as a widow, 42, with son Frederick
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X75Z-723

Marriage
Dec 1934 Leicester 7a 643
Hall, John - spouse Weston
Weston, Mary E. - spouse Hall

Sarah Elizabeth died in 1934. Wife of John Hall.
We presume John Hall was alive at that time. He would then be a widower and could remarry
I'm getting carried away perhaps!

Wow.............thank you very much indeed diddy and jonw65 for your replies and your continued interest in helping me find John Hall.  ;) :) ;)

I do not possess a copy marraige certificate for Johns first marriage but I have John Hall marrying Mary Ann Mann in 1881. In 1891 they were living in Dorset Street with their first child John W Hall. They had 5 more children Elizabeth Lily, Arthur, Emily, Eliza and George Harry who was born 1893 the same year Mary Ann passed away.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks Steve  ;)

OK, that could explain John William

HALL, JOHN  WILLIAM
Mother's Maiden Surname: MANN
GRO Reference: 1883  S Quarter in LEICESTER  Volume 07A  Page 218

Possibly the Weston marriage
March 1888
Leicester 7a 328
Weston, George
Wright, Mary Eliza

Followed by son Frederick's birth in Billesdon (mother Wright) soon after!
Anyone looking for those two on the last census on one site needs to search for Neston!

So Ernest Frederick Wright in that grave is likely to be a relation of Mary Eliza.
Her death then must have been just before that of John
March 1935 Leicester 7a 227
Hall, Mary Eliza
age 66

So if(!) this is what happened, John and Mary Eliza would have been married literally no more than a few months before their deaths.
They might have been living together prior to that of course. Different addresses given according to the cemetery transcript, one of them could have died away from their usual address perhaps, or moved.
John

Lovely man, turned up out of the blue at a Meccano show we were putting on in Quorn one year and said
