I lived in Ardwick, Manchester in the early 1960s as a small child and much travelling of the world has now led me to want to know more about my roots. Carter, Beckwith, Connolly, Heron and Kelly are all names that form part of my family tree.

After committing suicide, by cutting his throat, Charles John Upcott was buried in Cullompton Cemetery on Saturday 23rd April 1898, after a service in the chapel there.

There is an Upcott  family vault inscribed "Upcott family of Raddon"  inside  the church at Thorverton dated late 1800s . I moved to Thorverton about a year ago and was looking at the vaults inside  recently . Raddon is a hamlet close to Thorverton  and also a few miles from  Cullompton
