Gallimores Meadow 1838 Tithe Map
« on: Thursday 17 December 20 14:58 GMT (UK) »
If anyone can help me out with a snip from the appropriate tithe map I would appreciate it.
I am looking for Gallimore's Meadow and Millfield Gate.
Hopefully these are close to grid ref. 392356,343232 on the Weston Coyney Road that runs from Longton to Weston Coney.
A snip of the map and the allocation  details would be most appreciated.
beyond expectation would be info from any maps from around 1720 when Gallimore 'of Millfield Gate' is recorded in parish registers for Caverswall.

Thanks

Hi,
There are lots of tithe maps on 'staffspasttrack' but not sure if they cover your area. HTH.

I can't help with a tithe map but there was a Millfield Gate Colliery in the area from 1855 to 1870. It seems to be in the area which is now Neath Close, just off Weston Coyney Road

Thanks

I see you are interested in Horobin - my wife is a Horbin, we have traced her line for a significant way back

My husband's great grandmother was Ada Mary Horrobin 1872 - 1962.  She was born in the Caverswall area and coincidentally lived in Weston Coyney Road in her old age.  I wonder if she was related to your wife

I have 3 Ada Horobin in my tree, two in Australia but none in Stoke area.  Our line traces back to the Macclesfield area. The earliest I have confirmed is William Horobin, 1770 Sheen-1851 Macclesfield.
After that it gets a bit messy and circumstantial, however there is a cousin who thinks he has tied this line into a Staffordshire line, also from Sheen which extends back mutch further.

Hello Allan. I think it must be a different branch of the Horrobin tree.  The earliest Horrobin I have is Abraham Horrobin, blacksmith, born around 1776 probably in Draycott, Staffordshire where he married Mary Orp in 1798.
