Parents of John Johnson - Higham by Nayland
« on: Friday 18 December 20 14:47 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I am looking for the parents/baptism of a John Johnson. I made this post a while back:

https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=838137.msg7036368#msg7036368

But I've learned a lot of since then and now I think it's all wrong. With the idea that John & Ann Manclarke were the parents. At the time, I found that on other trees but now it looks like a jump unless I'm missing something.

What I do have:

John Johnson married Caroline Lister/Leicester on the 28 Oct 1806, Higham by Nayland. I've actually done very well with Caroline, even found some of her great grandparents. She was baptised in 1789, Stoke by Nayland to George & Hannah Kingsbury.

They go on to have 6 children together, all born in Whatfiled Suffolk:

John - 1808
Anne - 1816
George - 1821
Alfred - 1823
Charles -1827
Emily - 1835

Caroline shows up on the 1841 census, living in Whatfield Suffolk:

HO107, Piece number 1022, Book number 19, Folio number 7, Page number 13

She's living with children:

Ann, George, Alfred, Charles, Emily. Her eldest John is living next to her with his wife and family.

Caroline is also living with two girls Harriet - 1831 and Elizabeth - 1836. I believe Harriet is the illegitimate daughter of a Hannah Johnson, baptised 4th March in Whatfield.

Elizabeth I believe was the illegitimate daughter of Ann Johnson, baptised 13th of June. This could be the eldest daughter Anne. She goes on to have another illegitimate child around 1842 George Johnson who she lives with in the 1851 and 1861 census, where Ann had married a Robert Pike. George could also be the yet to be named 3 month old who is also living with Caroline.

Caroline dies in 1845, Whatfield Suffolk.

I think I have John Johnson's death in 1840, Whatfield Suffolk. Which lists his birth as 1776.

I'm just having trouble finding a baptism for him. I'm struggling to link him with Hannah Johnson. It's a shame he didn't make it to the 1841 census.

Thanks for reading, this one was long. Appreciate any ideas on this one.

Marriage 1806 - last child born 1835 - 29 years later??

If Caroline died 1845 she was 50 so born approx 1795.  1841 shows her as 55 so is it the right death?

In 1806 she would have been 11yrs old if death age is correct?

I believe this is her death and birth. Born around 1784,  Baptised in 1789.

I'm confused, does no one think the image I attached is a real record?

The image is just a transcription of a record we can't see to confirm what it says so looking for a corresponding death registration for a Caroline age 62 is not bringing up anything - just the one aged 50.

No relationships are given in 1841 census.
