Annie Wark - John McClelland, Limavady
« on: Thursday 31 December 20 16:52 GMT (UK) »
My Great Grandfather John McLelland (or McClelland), b1878, d1944, married as a widower an Annie Wark. No other details are known, although I do have a photograph of Annie and John. John's first wife died in the 'Great Flu'. Her details were Elizabeth LIVINGSTONE, born 16-Dec-1881, died 16-Dec-1918. SHE HAD 11 CHILDREN. I have no other details other than they lived in Limavady, Co Londonderry, Ireland.

I am looking for any information on Annie Wark?

There’s a marriage on the GRONI website between John McClelland & Annie Warke, registered in Limavady on 11.1.1922. You can view the original certificate on-line on the GRONI website, using the “search registrations” option:

https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk

You will need to open an account and buy some credits. It costs £2.50 (sterling) to a view a certificate.

I would hazard a guess that Annie may be this lady in the 1911 census.

Her husband James died on 27.1.1917 in the Isle of Man (that’s a townland in Limavady, not the Island in the Irish Sea):

But you'll need to pay to view the 1922 certificate to find out.

According to a transcript of the marriage record, John McClelland, a miller living at 'Roe Villa' (Roe Mill?) married Annie Warke of 9 William Street, Limavady, in Drumachose Christ Church (Church of Ireland) on 11 January 1922.  Both came to the marriage widowed, both fathers - James McClelland (baker) and George Nicholl (labourer) - were deceased at the time of marriage. The witnesses were Hugh Thomas Graham and Susan Boyd.

Here's Annie's previous marriage in 1902:

Checking births for the children in the 1901 census ...

... reveals the parents to be George Nichol and Sarah Walker, I think the following civil birth registration for Nancy Nickle born in 1881 at Carnamuff townland is Annie:

Carnamuff: https://www.townlands.ie/londonderry/tirkeeran/faughanvale/faughanvale/carnamuff/

George Nickle and Sarah Walker, both of Carnamuff, married in Ballykelly Presbyterian Church in 1878, the two fathers were recorded as George Nickle and William Walker:
