I have a George Davey from more than a century earlier, in the same part of Devon (Calverleigh rather than Witheridge, about 12 km walk). I know almost nothing about him (no dates, no birth or death place, no wife, no occupation) beyond the fact  that his daughter Elizabeth married Humphry Bidgood on 23 June 1680 in Calverleigh. I'm more interested in Bidgood descendants than Davey descendants, but if there is any information about George Davey's origins I'd be interested to know.

athel_cb - the problem you have is that parish registers for Calverleigh only survive back to 1679, so if your George was baptised there you won't find a record. FYI - the 1680 marriage between Elizabeth & Humphrey BIDGOOD does state that George Davey's wife was Margaret - very unusual at this time to have so much information included in a marriage entry.

Thank you all for your help, But I am a bit confused because DOB7 said the 1680 Marriage but George was not born until 1790 where did you find this info I have used Ancestry, Family Search, & my Heritage but all I come up with is parents Willian Davey &Elizabeth Pope.

Regards Brian
