With regard to his court marshals, is there anywhere that I could search to learn more?

I think it is likely these were regimental courts martial, therefore there won't be any records other than what appears in his documents which you already have. The details of the charge(s) and outcome of such proceedings were recorded in the Regimental Conduct Book, which have generally not survived. At a later stage (around about 1890?), soldiers were given individual conduct sheets which then moved with them during their career.

A Regimental Court Martial was similar to what would be the Commanding Officer's orders today, except that a RCM was conducted by several officers of the Regiment sitting as a court. For certain military offences the punishment for which involves a fine or stoppages of pay or imprisonment, the accused soldier may elect to be tried by court martial rather than have his case heard and dealt with summarily. If a CO's powers of punishment are insufficient to deal with a particularly serious offence he will remand the soldier for a District Court Martial (DCM). A CO can only award up to 28 days imprisonment, or a fine equivalent to 28 day's pay, and reductions in rank for sergeants and below, provided that if the reduction concerns a sergeant this must be agreed  by the Brigade commander.

Sorry, Nellie - I agree with your transcription, but I can't interpret that one either. I can only think 'Church of England' when I see C of E!

Hard to think of it anything other than Church of England isn’t it?
I might pop it up on the general military board and see if it is recognisable to a wider audience.
