What I have just read appals, upsets and angers me .
For many reasons ,but an incident a couple of years ago had me in flames.
As brief as I can, someone dumped in a skip dedicated to building rubble from my roof replacement ,ten wheelie bin liners of household rubbish.
I phoned the council as the skip would not be accepted at the tip.
They informed me the cost for them to remove the bags was £30 each!
So £ 300 for me to find.
The council advised me to look and see if I could get an address ,name
I did and found a Universal credit letter etc.
Well, you would not believe it!
Money for dental treatment, glasses, prison visiting and travel costs to and from hospital.visiting .
This was a young woman with three children, one with her surname and two more with two different surnames.
Her rent arrears were being paid little by little , also Council tax.heating costs etc all included in her payments each month.
It made me very angry , it seemed to all be on a plate for her ,all worked
out .
I know nothing of such benefits ,being lucky enough to be in work and not needing benefits ,so perhaps I should not judge ,but a neighbour was found collapsed ,and pronounced unfit to work but after a brief recovery ,he was put on another job which entailed heavy lifting and rapid up and down head movements which upset his balance .
Collapsed again.
Not working now and he says he gets no benefits ,too young for his Retirement pension so as I know nothing about the system ,on the surface it seems very unfair.
When people are in distressing worrying circumstances ,they need easy to understand and uncomplicated instructions ,and help .
Makes you wonder if things are made so difficult on purpose.
Viktoria.
