Morton or Moreton in or near Marlesford
« on: Monday 18 January 21 00:34 GMT (UK) »
Hi - I'm new, so this is my first post  :)

I'd be very interested to know of any records relating to Mrs Moreton or Morton, and her two sons who lived at (I believe, but could be wrong) Willow(s) Farm in Marlesford during WWII.  My mum's family lodged with the Moretons or lived on the farm during the war, but I haven't yet found any record of the Mortons, so can't confirm the exact location of the farm. Mum told me there was an airfield "at the bottom of the garden", which might narrow it down, but isn't conclusive. It also implies that mum's family were living in a farm cottage, since if it's Willow Farm at Marlesford, the airfield is very close, but maybe not close enough to the main house to say that.

I have some photos of harvesting at the farm and of someone who might be Mrs Morton; happy to pass on copies to anyone interested.

Thanks for any help.

Hi MidwinterSun.

Welcome to RootsChat :D

Can't help with the family.

But there is a place called The Willows in Buttons Road Marlesford and not far away there is Parham airfield.

Yes, that's the one top of my list of possibilities  :D  I'm puzzled as to why I can't find the family or farm on records, though. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

!! That's perfect, thank you!  I believe the other son's name was Bob. I'm not sure if I'm allowed t post a picture, but have some lovely ones which are probably of him or Bill, Mrs M  and the farm as it was. Also some taken on the airbase.

Lovely to be able to confirm the address, thanks again!
