The "ill" and "jones" are very similar. It's really only the W that is quite different. Perhaps he was experimenting with a more modern look for his capital W !

I agree with Shaun.

In particular the s of the Jones I think looks exactly the same shape in both examples though the finishing points are slightly different.

Start point of the first i in William and also Willm is above the line which is quite distinctive.

n in Jones is slightly different though there is a similar gap between the n and the e in both.
