DNA
« on: Tuesday 26 January 21 19:31 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I got my DNA results a few days ago and, so far, I have found no matches with my great grandfather's family. Could this be due to the fact that it I might not share enough DNA with him due to the randomness of DNA or maybe that the matches just simply havent appeared yet?

Thanks

It sometimes takes a few days for all your matches to appear. Maybe none of your possible close matches on that side have tested.

Was it an Ancestry test?

Ah that’s seems to explain things. Yes it was Ancestry.

Great grandparents' descendants  could be great/grand uncles and aunts, their children (your second cousins and removes).  The shared DNA is likely to be within a range of say 1200 - 0 cMs.
