Thank you everyone for your replies, I still wonder.....

a) Who is William Wade and why cannot I find a record of any marriage certificate after all he is named as father on Elizabeth and on Williams marriage certificate

b) Walter Wade is shown as father on both Charlotte and Eliza’s marriage certificate

c) Who is Harry Wade, he is shown as ‘son’ of Sarah with the rest of the family on 1901 census?

a) As Sarah's children appear to be illegitimate I wonder whether she gave the name of her father William on their baptism record, the 1871 census her father's occupation looks to be corn porter ??? address 5 Grantham St

b) Have you looked for a Walter Wade on the census to see if you can find one with occupation moulder?

c) I wonder if Harry might be a grandchild of Sarah's rather than son, Edith was originally shown as dau on 1891 census

Thank you Ladyhawk, I did wonder if Sarah did put her fathers name on baptism records,

Harry could be a Grandchild, Edith is definitely a granddaughter, her mother is Annie, also unmarried at the time, Annie was my husbands Grandmother!

I will continues looking for Walter, not sure the Bradford connection is correct, there is no records of anyone in the family living anywhere but Leeds.

Thank you Ladyhawk for your reply and for presenting it in a way that makes it easy to understand. I think it would appear that Sarah never married, Grantham Street seems to confirm that, as it looks as though she still lived in the family house even after having the children, she must have put her fathers name on some birth certificates to appear ‘respectable’. So goodness knows who Walter Wade is. Strange that Edith is illegitimate to Annie, Annie did go on to marry and have other children including my Mother in Law also called Annie, but Edith was a lot older than the other children and always a bit of an outsider according to my Mother in Law who lived to be 95!

Thank you again

Brenda

Just in case you don't have it William's burial

I couldn't find a baptism for Harry Wade age 7 on 1901 census

Eliza's birth reg 1888 J quarter Leeds mmn blank and she married in 1915 naming her father as
Walter Wade occ Moulder

Eliza Wade age 27, Pleasant Grove Holbeck
