Photo Dating of Unknown Relatives (Hunt, Baxter, Smith, Ross, Lewis or Mander)

Hi,

I was hoping someone could please help with dating this photograph? It was in an album with my Great-Grandparents photographs but sadly nobody knows who it is, just that they're related to one of my grandparents. I've got photographs of my Great-Great Grandparents, born around 1900 and it isn't them.

Edit: Thought I would add names in case any distant relatives stumble across this post! This could perhaps be a photograph of a 3x Great-Grandparent, in which case, the surname of the couple could be Halford or Johnson (Leicestershire), Hunt, Baxter, Smith, Ross, Lewis or Mander (Staffordshire).

We could do with seeing the whole photo including the back if you have it as there is not much to go on. A scan at resolution of 300dpi would bring out more detail including a photographer's stamp. Does it have a postcard back?

Unfortunately I have no idea where the photograph is, I've moved house and can't find it anywhere. I do remember that most of the photographs in the bundle had writing on the back or had a postcard back. However, this one was completely blank with no stamp or writing

Ok never mind, I have one very similar which was dated around the first world war and it had a photographer's stamp on the front but looking in photoshop, the area where it would have been is damaged.

Oh I see, thank you for your help. I think my Grandad may have a copy of this somewhere, perhaps the original. I'll ask him to have a look for me.

I would suggest late WW1 as a starting point.
The photographic style is what was commonly called
"cinema photography" commonly used in the 20's.
So late war - early 20's would be my estimate.
They look about 40 so born 1880 +/- 5 I would
also suggest.
