Good evening,

Viktoria
My fridge is about 10 years old and probably pre-dates any such thing as antibacterial properties!  I'm currently seeking some kind of white enamel paint to cover over the rust.  Husband says, "Have you tried Tipp-ex?"  ::)  It's in a darkish corner of the kitchen and no one can see it at the moment anyway.

You need something like this, this is B&Q. Also available in black, silver and others. Loads of other makes and suppliers.

You need to eradicate the rust with an abrasive, emery cloth would be my choice. Not too coarse, I doubt the metal is all that thick. If you cover over rust it will "grow" under the paint.

B&Q and Wilko and Argos all offer home deliveries for many products if you'd rather avoid shops at the moment.

Thanks for all the advice, folks. :-*  A trip to nearby B&Q seems likely, though not before my hospital appointment next week, as they have asked me to socially distance for 2 weeks before the appointment.  It seems likely that they will also arrange a swab test a couple of days before the visit, but have heard nothing yet.  Have purchased a medical-grade mask for the appointment.

Maybe anti-bac spray would have been a better choice for the fridge

Coronavirus isn't bacteria.

Soap block or bottle (as in handwash)?

I always wonder, too, quite what instructions such as "Wash in soapy water" really mean -  water with real soap swished about in it or just water with bubbles, which could come from bottled cleaning stuff such as washing-up liquid?

Doesn't matter whether soap is in a block or a bottle. The important ingredients are soap + water. No need for antibacterial liquid soap. Coronavirus doesn't like soap.

If you go to Amazon and type in "white enamel touch up pen" you will find a very easy and convenient product. I have previously used these pens and find them effective.

Thanks, sonofthom.  That sounds more like my level of DIY competence, though I would have to source it from some other supplier, as I never buy anything from Amazon.

Are you on eBay?  If so the white enamel pen shows up on there.
