Working backwards Catherine (aka Kate) married two Axels - first Mat(t)son and then Pederson/Pet(t)erson

1901  - Liverpool
Axel Mattson    30 b Sweden
Kate Mattson    26
Axel Mattson    2
Kate Mattson    1
Elizabeth Thomas    16 - sister in law, b Liverpool
Elizabeth Wallace    18 - visitor
Carl Platz    27 - boarder

At the marriage Catherine's father is Evan - a cooper

I'm a bit confused - the Evan Thomas  in Castle St Beaumaris in 1881 is single, so how is he the father of this Catherine b 1874. Have we got the right Evan?

Apologies everyone, I seemed to have got some of my facts wrong. It's Catherine who I need the information on. Thanks to Mabel with the latest info. This seems to follow the data I have from the records my husband's mum told him. I will try and put more information required / looking for tomorrow. Thanks to you all this has been every informative.

Hi Mabel, Cath and Wilcoxon for the information you have provided.
My husband's grandmother was Catherine Pederson and  his mum was Ines Anne Pederson (Peterson). Ines had a sister also Pederson and step sisters and brothers with the surname of Mattson.  My husband didn't realise his grandmother had siblings. He had heard about Chauntry House but not the other addresses in Castle St. he will now try looking at the BDM for his grandmother's siblings. If you have anymore info that you think might help then please don't hesitate to contact us. Once again, thanks for your valuable information and assistance.

This might give you a start on the siblings - 1911

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWRY-T9B

what's the connection with Chauntry House that your husband has heard about? There is a Jones family there in 1901 (see Ellen Thomas' maiden name) but they are of a very different social level - William Thornton Jones is a  solicitor, registrar and high bailiff of Anglesey Crown Court.

His grandfather is a farmer, so there is a possibility she's from a different branch that don;t do as well for themselves. There again, Jones is a fairly common name!
